Aadhaar-PAN linking Deadline: December 31, 2017
The CBDT has recently issued a revised deadline to associate Aadhaar using PAN to “to facilitate easy compliance with the taxpayers”. Failure to meet up with the deadline will probably render taxpayers unable to file income tax return (ITR).
The government has said that ITRs registered after July 1, 2017 will be accepted only after tax-payers associate their PAN together with Aadhaar. It later revised the deadline to August 5, before extending it to December 31 mentioning that PAN and also Aadhaar details weren’t matching in several instances.
As per the new rules, the government has asked all of financial banks and institutions to ensure that most customers are KYC compliant. This means that, to get a loan or to make trades, and to even keep a bank accounts running you will have to confirm your Aadhaar with banks before December 31, 2017.
An amendment has been made in the ‘Prevention of Money Laundering Rules’ Act, 2005. If this is simply not one till 31st December 2017, the account will be frozen till the required documents are submitted.
Aadhaar – Mobile Linking Deadline: February 6, 2018
The Department of Telecommunications has asked all the telecom operators to re-verify that the numbers of prepaid and post paid mobile users via Aadhaar-based e-KYC. In addition, it has turned into mandatory to supply Aadhaar details while buying new cellphone SIM cards.
Mobile amounts perhaps not connected to Aadhaar by February 6, 2018 is going to be deactivated.
Aadhaar – Social Security Schemes Linking Deadline: December 31, 2017
